CARTER ROAD PROMENADE
Opening Ceremony

The 7th edition of the festival kicks – off with a melange of wonderful events. The traditional lamp –lighting & inauguration will be followed by “BENEDICTION" conceptualized by Lata Surendra which is a reaching out through the splendid power of dance. A visual prayer and a pulsating quilt of dance forms endorsing "Peace on Earth and Goodwill to All”

Next on stage is a Best of Bandra segment where our little divas will showcase you their fantastic talent. This segment features the 7 year old prodigy Anaya D'Souza performing “Notice Me Horton” from the musical “Seussical”, followed by our cuties Saloni de Souza and Chantel D'Souza performing their duet “Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better”, after which the talented dance trio of Skye Shenoy, Eryn Dos Remedios perform a medley “It's A Hard Knock Life” and “You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile” from the musical “Annie” and the versatile Shania D'Souza ends this segment with her rendition of the very famous song “Feeling Good”

We then move into the professional showcase which opens with “RaagaTrippin”. They are a band of six voices creating an insane vocal experience with Music, Rhythm and New A Cappella Bollywood Mashups! They are India's first Bollywood A Cappella group. These six talented musicians add a whole new dimension to songs you love.

Finally the evening moves into top gear with “Massive Vibe Live” who are from London, England. Massive Vibe Live! is a worldwide concert tour empowering people through a new form of music with magnetising lyrics, visuals and dance. Merging the ancient and the contemporary, this ground-breaking show of outrageous liveliness sweeps you up in its atmosphere of great cheer. Rich, raw, wild and wise, you are exalted with the magic of being alive. Performing to thousands, with sell out shows in India, Sweden and the UK, Massive Vibe Live! continues its global tour of empowerment through music.

Mumbai has a conflicting yet symbiotic relation with its sea, at once abundant and scarce, a saviour and curse, an element of purity and contamination.

We are engulfed by a bounty of water bodies that find their way into the very structure of the city, but at the same time, much of it cannot be used, or enjoyed. Against this luxurious, unattainable basic commodity lies the landscape of the city, its growth ferocious and uncontainable. Between these two binaries lies a perpetual tension.

Along Carter Road Promenade, a blurred stretch where land and sea collide, crossover and go their separate ways, we invite contemporary Indian artists and designers to examine this constant state of conflict and negotiation.

From 18-28 November 2015, on the occasion of the Celebrate Bandra Festival, Hema Upadhyay, Madhuri Kathe, Nuru Karim, Prajakta Palav, Prashant Jogdand, Rajeev Thakkar – StudioX, Raktim Parashar, Ratna Gupta, Suruchi Choksi, Tyrell Valladares and Vidya Chitre Vaidya inhabit one of the city's few lasting yet receding shorelines where they will probe the social, economical, ecological, spiritual implications of the sea. At the same time, the works provoke an engagement with joggers, families, lovers visiting the site to consider, investigate, and question the possibility of humans actively participating in dialogues related to the present nature of the city and its future.

A Dur Se Brothers Production’s- Charge
A Dur Se Brothers Production’s - Charge

An apocalyptic comedy of Aztecian proportions. Set in the future, Charge is an absurd comedy on technology and the human condition. The story is broadly based on a married couple who live in one room and have their every whim catered to by androids. Both hilarious and incisive, Charge explores the human condition and our dependence on technology.

The Patchwork Ensemble's - ILA

Inspired by a lesser known myth, ILA is a devised piece that looks at gender, its related myths and the importance they play in our lives today. With ever-changing landscapes and leaps in time, this chorus takes the audience through a provocative, playful and exciting journey that questions what it means to "be a woman/man and everything in between”
